According to the latest global survey by the Reputation Institute, Canada has officially been named the world’s most beloved country in 2025. The ranking is based on the views of more than 78,000 people from G8 nations as well as non-member countries, who were asked to evaluate factors such as admiration, trust, and respect toward different states.
The reasons behind Canada’s success
What propelled Canada to the top spot is its unique blend of natural beauty, political stability, safety, and a welcoming attitude toward newcomers. Respondents not only see it as an ideal place to visit, but also as a country where they would be happy to live, study, or work. That balance—aspirational yet accessible—has made Canada a clear favorite.
The other nations in the top five
Trailing Canada are Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and Australia. Sweden was singled out for the competence of its government, while Japan earned praise for its ability to sustain growth and development.
A reputation built over time
Canada’s current standing is not a sudden stroke of luck. This year, its reputation was described as “unbeatable,” thanks to a careful balance between environmental stewardship, quality of life, and positive global perception. The country has consistently ranked high in past editions of the survey, often securing second place.
Today, Canada’s image is firmly cemented as a multicultural nation, committed to human rights and proud of its diversity. Economically, it remains among the world’s top eleven economies, managing to combine prosperity with strong social values.
From its iconic landscapes—stretching from the Rocky Mountains to the Great Lakes—to its open and tolerant society, Canada continues to embody a global model of coexistence and inclusion. In a world often marked by crises and conflict, its positive image shines even brighter. As the survey suggests, it’s little wonder that millions see it as “the country of dreams.”
