A heartwarming scene that could be straight out of a fairy tale has gone viral on the web: a wild rabbit, weak and ill, sought help at an emergency room.
The animal, hungry and disoriented, hopped into a hospital in Oława, Poland, clinging to the leg of an employee. The scene deeply moved the medical staff, who quickly activated emergency services to ensure that the little creature received the necessary care.
The rescue effort
The unusual rescue, which took place on March 19, involved several organizations, including the city’s water brigade. The most touching moment came at the end: a driver volunteered to take the rabbit to the nearest rehabilitation center free of charge.
A new home
Upon arriving at the rehabilitation center in Wrocław, the rabbit showed a strong appetite. When the caretakers placed food in front of him, the animal devoured the entire plate. At the shelter, he also found new companions and plenty of affection.
According to the staff at the center, the older hares accepted the newcomer without hesitation.
“At first, they sniffed and licked him, and then they fully accepted him,” they wrote on Instagram.
The welcoming behavior of the adult rabbits was crucial in reducing the stress of the young hare and increasing his chances of survival.
