Prima Vera: In Liscate (Italy), the mural celebrating women’s rebirth and nature

In Liscate near Milan, a 1,292-square-foot mural by four female artists celebrates women's strength and their deep bond with nature, inviting us to transcend roles.

“A tribute to women, their strength and their essentiality”: this is how a 1,292-square-foot mural appears in Liscate, near Milan (Italy).

It’s “Prima Vera” (First Spring), a collective work that weaves four artistic visions into a single visual narrative. Created by four female artists — Giuliana De Vita, Giulia Marchini, Ambra Iori and Margherita Yoko Finardi, with support from Gioquellove (Giorgio Barbieri) — it celebrates rebirth, strength and the connection between women and nature.

A massive work strongly supported by the local administration with backing from Infinite Officine, a professional studio focused on innovation and new technologies.

This is a work that aims to be a tribute to women, their strength and their essentiality — comments Liscate Mayor Lorenzo Fucci — four artistic visions come together to create a unique and totally harmonious work that can enhance women in every aspect.

This mural invites us to step out of roles. Because if we stay within roles, there will never be equity. In roles we run, we measure, we chase — and too often women find themselves pursuing, says councilor Paola Micci, with responsibility for cultural services — But if we recognize ourselves as people, then there’s no more running, no more distance: there’s only shared humanity. And that’s where true equality is born. We chose this location so it would be close to everyone, so that those who pass by every day could feel it as part of their own space. And so that girls, growing up here, could look at it and feel that they too can be everything they want to be; just as young and mature women can.

And perhaps this is Prima Vera’s most powerful message: reminding us that women’s strength needs no frames or definitions, but only to be seen, welcomed and respected. That wall in Liscate becomes much more than a work of art — it’s a seed of awareness, an invitation to flourish together, men and women, in mutual respect and the freedom to be.

Because every rebirth, like every spring, always begins with a gaze that recognizes beauty in others.
