What is the best organic extra virgin olive oil in the world?

The best organic extra virgin olive oil in the world comes from Tuscany-Italy: let's discover the winners of the prestigious BIOL Award 2025

The answer comes from the prestigious international jury of the BIOL 2025 Award, organized by the Biol Italia association of organic producers, under the initiative of Ci.Bi., the Italian Consortium for Organic Products.

Founded in 1996, this award celebrates the quality of organic extra virgin olive oil, promoting the territories of origin and supporting biodiversity. Today, it is considered the most important award in the organic oil sector, involving producers, experts, and consumers from all over the world.

This year’s competition saw 507 outstanding oils from 18 countries competing: 303 Italian oils and 204 European and non-European oils. The jury, made up of 35 international experts from countries such as Canada, China, Germany, Greece, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Tunisia, carefully evaluated each oil through tastings and qualitative and sensory analysis.

The best organic olive oil in the world

In the end, the jury declared the world’s best organic extra virgin olive oil. The winner was Sergenti from the Tuscan farm “I Sergenti” in Reggello, just outside Florence. This oil boasts extraordinary complexity and character, with a perfect balance between bitterness and spiciness, which won over the experts’ palates.

However, other exceptional oils also stood out on the podium: second place went to another Italian oil, Mimì from the Donato Conserva farm in Puglia, the winner of last year’s edition. In third place was a Slovenian oil, Jasa Cuvee from the Istrian company Jasa Prestige.

In addition to the main winners, the BIOL Award presented some special recognitions.

BIOLKIDS award:

The BIOLKIDS Award was given to the Sardinian oil Masoni Becciu Cuncordu, produced by the Masoni Becciu farm of Valentina Deidda. The jury that decided the winner consisted of a special group of children and teenagers, aged between 7 and 15 years.

BIOL-PACK  award:

This award was intended to recognize the oil with the most innovative packaging that complies with regulations. It was awarded to the Greek oil Laurel & Flame Premium Olympia PGI, produced by the A.M.G. Karabelas PC company in Elis Peloponnese.

This oil won for the quality of its bottle design, which stood out for both its beauty and functionality, as well as its particularly clear, transparent label that met regulatory standards.
